I think the beginning of my fervor with macro photography started when I was doing bog turtle surveys for the state. Bog Turtles are extremely hard to find if you don't have the experience of where to look and what to look for, and my first time was very unsuccessful. Fortunately, crawling on all fours and combing grass reveals fascinating invertebrates. I had just gotten my camera with a macro feature, and couldn't stop snapping pictures. Since then, I've moved on from insects to just about anything I can get my lens close to!
